Celebrating Diversity and Talent at Miss North Carolina
During the Miss North Carolina competition, Everett's performance and advocacy left a memorable impression on both the audience and judges. Majoring in vocal performance and only in her sophomore year at NCCU, her victory not only highlights her individual talents but also the quality of NCCU’s nurturing environment for young, ambitious women.
Everett’s journey in the competition was nothing short of remarkable. She shone brightly in the Evening Gown and Talent preliminaries, captivating everyone with her rendition of “And I Am Telling You…” from the popular musical “Dreamgirls.” Her vocal prowess earned her the Susan Griffin Fisher Best in Vocal Talent Scholarship and the Karen Bloomquist Rookie Scholarship, cumulatively adding $23,500 to her scholarship earnings.
A Platform for Change and Advocacy
Underpinning Everett’s campaign was her community service initiative titled “Equity to build community,” which resonates deeply with the values taught and upheld at NCCU. This initiative underscores her commitment to using her platform to foster community ties and enhance social equity, themes that are central to the mission of historically Black colleges and universities like NCCU.
The Miss North Carolina Organization, known for its commitment to empowering young women, has provided a platform where Everett could showcase her talents and advocacies. As she prepares to step onto the national stage at the 2025 Miss America pageant, Everett carries not only her personal aspirations but the hopes and support of the NCCU community.
